One person died and four others, including children, were injured in a head-on collision on the Higginson Highway near Shallcross on Sunday evening, 16 June.
Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson said around 10am, paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos and carnage.
“Two vehicles collided head-on before blocking the entire roadway. One man, believed to be the driver of one vehicle sustained major injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do for the patient and he was declared deceased on the scene. Four occupants in the same vehicle had sustained major injuries. Two children aged 2 and 10-years-old sustained critical injuries,” said Jamieson.
Jamieson said advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise them on the scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital. “The second driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to hospital for further care,” he said.
