Deepavali or Diwali will be celebrated by Hindus this week and is considered the biggest and brightest of all Hindu festivals.

It’s the festival of lights (deep = light and avali = a row i.e., a row of lights), which literally illuminates the country with its brilliance. Devotees around the country will be lighting up their lamps in celebration of Diwali, which is also the Hindu New Year.

The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.

Olivia Reddy joins the Editor and staff of Tabloid Newspapers in wishing all those celebrating, a joyous and blessed Diwali.
