An suspected love triangle ended in bloodshed and murder when a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed, allegedly by his girlfriend’s former boyfriend in Brookdale last Friday night.
Phoenix SAPS communications officer, Cpt L Naidoo said, “The suspect who is known has not yet been arrested. Members of Phoenix SAPS were called out to a scene in Shellbrook at about 9pm. The officers noticed a crowd at the address and found the body of a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The deceased had sustained a stab wound to the neck.”
“Upon interviewing a woman who was present at the scene, she stated that she had witnessed the stabbing. The witness alleged that the deceased male was her boyfriend. She claimed that whilst she was standing with the deceased who was her boyfriend, her former boyfriend approached them. The woman further claimed that the ex-boyfriend then pulled out a knife and stabbed her boyfriend once in the neck. He sustained a fatal injury and was declared deceased at the scene,” said Cpt Naidoo.
“We urge young people in relationships to act responsibly and resolve problems amicably. By lashing out in anger, fury and jealously, can only lead to disastrous and even fatal consequences. Such situations leaves everyone involved with added problems. Seek help, counselling or advice from religious leaders, trained counsellors, trusted family and friends or the relevant authorities,” Cpt Naidoo added.
