Ten people have been injured, one seriously so, after a bus collided into a truck on the N2 North Bound near Gateway offramp this morning.
Around 10:30am Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos. A bus had collided into a truck on the busy highway. The bus driver was severely entrapped and whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man on scene, rescuers used the Jaws of Life to cut him free. The driver had sustained serious injuries. Once freed he was rushed to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.
Eight passengers in the bus had also sustained various injuries and were stabilised on scene before being extricated from the bus and transported to various hospitals. The truck driver escaped with minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
At this stage the events leading up to the collision are unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
