Rayen Chetty (23) who is accused of killing his girlfriend’s mother after allegedly driving over her repeatedly outside her Woodhurst home, was granted bail of R5 000 at the Chatsworth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 16 August.

Forty-three-year old creche teacher Salma Bibi Sheik Haniff was mowed down and her body dragged into the street, allegedly by Chetty who was forcibly leaving home with her daughter in his Toyota Run X on Friday evening, 11 August.

Chetty is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and reckless and negligent driving. The accused will reappear in court soon.
