A crash at the Bayview off ramp claimed the life of a 31-year old mother on Sunday, 5 November. Genevieve Naicker from Havenside passed away due to the extensive injuries she sustained after the vehicle she was travelling in, crashed into a tree.
Speaking to the Chatsworth Tabloid, Naicker’s aunt Lee Anne Moodley stated that her niece was travelling to her workplace, in Gateway at approximately 10:10am, when the incident occurred.
“They were driving past the Bayview off ramp when the vehicle crashed into a tree. The tree was on her side of the vehicle, so she was crushed and died instantly. Her boyfriend escaped with minor injuries. Genevieve was a very outspoken and friendly
person. She has an eight-year old daughter who she dearly loved. She was a family person and will really be missed,” said Moodley.
Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson stated that paramedics arrived on the scene just after 10:10am to find the carnage. “The female passenger who was entrapped in the wreckage was assessed and found to have sustained major injuries. Unfortunately there was nothing more paramedics could do for her and she was declared deceased on the scene. The driver had sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene by paramedics.
Traffic was severely affected as emergency personal worked on the scene and only one lane was open for vehicles to pass,” said Jamieson.
