A 39-year-old man has gone missing and is presumed drowned after a fall from a waterfall on Thursday (12 April) evening in the Monks Cowl Nature Reserve in the Drakensberg.
The man who is said to be a South African actor was filming in the area when the incident happened. The crew was filming a fight scene when the actor fell at around 5.30pm.
Chief Okhahlamba Fire Emergency Service Fred Halgreen, Okhahlamba Municipal firemen and volunteers JP Strydom and Steve Rickets, spent five hours searching for the man without any results. “We called off the search at around 11pm,” said Halgreen.
The details of the incident remains sketchy, but teams will continue the search. “I have also roped in the services of SAPS Pietermartizburg Search and Rescue teams and other firemen to increase the search perimeter along the waterfall and river.”
